S
The S is the base trim level of the Ford Escape. It comes with a lot of great features, especially in terms of safety. One feature within the Ford Co-Pilot360™ Technology suite is the BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert. Through this system, you’ll receive alerts should you merge into a nearby lane or back up when another vehicle is passing by.
Such safety provides extra comfort in the car, and you’ll also find that through the standard cloth seats. Your driver’s seat moves manually in six ways while the passenger seat moves manually in four ways. If you need room for cargo, the standard 60/40 split-folding rear row will open up additional space.
This base trim also sports the standard engine, a 1.5L 3-cylinder that’s paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It provides up to 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque and comes with standard front-wheel drive.
SE
The SE trim will have the same standard engine and adds available options. One such upgrade is available dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, which allows you and you front-seat passenger to each have greater control over the cabin temperature.
You’ll also get some extra comfort of your own from the available 8-way power driver’s seat. Plus, there’s now a standard Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start system for convenient, keyless functions.
Elevated entertainment will be found through the standard SYNC® 3 system, where you’ll find both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Using voice commands, you’ll be able to make a quick phone call or request specific songs on a longer trip, all of which you’ll listen to through the six standard speakers.
SEL
On the SEL trim, you’ll now have another engine choice: the available 2.0L 4-cylinder. It’s considerably more powerful than the standard, as it delivers up to 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. It still comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, but this time sports paddle shifters and standard all-wheel drive.
More interior advancements will be found within the cabin of the vehicle on this trim level, and both the dual-zone automatic temperature control and 8-way power driver’s seat will now come standard.
Technology also sees some great upgrades, and SEL offers an available 12.3-inch Full Digital Instrument Cluster instead of the standard 4.2-inch screen. In addition, this is the first trim level where you’ll have access to the available 10-speaker B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen.
Titanium
Titanium, as the highest trim, will feature some of the most enjoyable and advanced features. Much of what was mentioned earlier as an available upgrade will now be standard on this trim level, including the more powerful 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, all-wheel drive, and the Full Digital Instrument Cluster.
Safety upgrades include standard Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, which will ensure a safe following distance between you and other vehicles. It demonstrates further intelligence via Speed Sign Recognition and Lane Centering Assist. The former uses nearby speed limit signs to slow down or speed up your vehicle accordingly, while the latter ensures you stay within your given lane.
Further convenient features include a standard 10-way power driver’s seat and 6-way power passenger’s seat. Plus, you’ll find a standard hands-free liftgate to easily move items to your cargo area.
